HGV Class 1 Fuel Driver

This role offers £56,000 a year on a rotating shift pattern of 10 to 12 hours per day, and the salary is available on a pro-rate level up to £56,000. Drivers will require a valid and up to date CPC and Digi Card.

HGV Class 2 Driver – Food Delivery Driver

This role offers a wage of £39,000 per year, delivering food and catering products to a wide range of organisations, including shops, schools, care homes, pubs, bars and restaurants.

What Are The Requirements For HGV Drivers?

The first step for any prospective HGV driver is obtaining a driving licence (Category B) and being 18 years old or older. People meeting this criterion can apply for a provisional HGV driving licence.

There are two main categories for HGV drivers:

1. Category C refers to rigid HGVs
2. Category C+E refers to articulated HGVs

At this time, drivers must obtain their Category C licence before obtaining their Category C+E licence. However, as of January 2022, it will be possible for drivers to move from holding a Category B licence directly to a Category C+E licence.

Also, once a driver holds their HGV licence, they must undertake 35 hours of Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) every five years.
